Magazines Americas Top Ten Coolest Stores:
The Youngest & ONLY
Small Town Winner
Christophers Fine Jewelry of Pawleys Island
has been named one of the top three coolest jewelry stores in America, by
leading industry magazine InStore. Movies have the Oscars, television has
the Emmys, and the world of fine jewelry has Instore Magazines annual
Americas Coolest Store Awards; whose winners receive an engraved glass and
gold trophy.
The trade publication, which ranks Americas
top 10 stores in its annual Coolest Store competition, praised Christophers
for the way it has built a tribute to nature and perfectly matched the ethos
of its affluent but laidback environment. One InStore judge stated: The
inside of the store looks like the interior of a fine sailing ship, and the
lighter wood flooring feels like the water. Perfect for their
location!
Adding to its achievement was the fact that
Christophers was the ONLY store among the top 10 finalists to be located in a
small community. It was also the youngest store, serving the Georgetown
community for 13 years before moving to Pawleys Island in June 2005. Most
of the other top stores had long family histories that went back
generations.
Owner Chris Cervini, who also serves as the
stores gemologist and designer, said: This is a tremendous honor for us, and a
confirmation of all we have set out to do in building and growing our
business. It is even more of an honor since all the other winners are from
major metropolitan areas. We are glad to be able to represent our
community to the nation with this award.
The other nine finalists were from (#1)
Fayetteville, AR established (est): 1957 (#2) Des Moines, IA est: 1871(#4)
Knoxville, TN est: 1933 (#5) Boston, MA est: 1878 (#6) Sioux City, est: 1945
(#7-three way tie) Seattle, WA est: 1912; Palo Alto, CA est: 1852 &
Meridian, ID est: 1989 and (#10) Spokane, WA est: 1979.
